چکیده

We use computational simulations to study the electron emission and propagation in planar vacuum diodes. show how space-charge affects thermionic from cathodes with two different values of work function that form a checkerboard pattern finite extent on cathode surface. confirm that, for intermediate temperature, local current density low regions can exceed limit entire cathode. As temperature rises effects lead homogeneous interior emitting area higher its periphery. beam emittance brightness are affected, operating optimal is such it corresponds transition region between source-limited limited emission. Finally we quality depend fine grained structure is.

The Field Cathodes with the Effect of Space Charge Modeling

This work is devoted to the question of the effect of space charge on the field electron emission. The electrostatic potential distributions for the diode emission systems are calculated. The diode systems, which can be readily constructed, are generally used for the characterization of field emission properties of novel materials. They have some effective applications in vacuum nanoand microel...

In-FEEP Thruster Ion Beam Neutralization with Thermionic and Field Emission Cathodes

Charge neutralization of an In-FEEP thruster was demonstrated with three different electron sources by zeroing the floating potential of the thruster and neutralizer system. The three cathodes used in the investigation include a mixed metal thermionic cathode, a carbon nanotube field emission cathode, and a Spindt-type Mo field emission array cathode. The field emission cathodes significantly i...

Modeling of Space-Charge Effects in 3D Thermionic Devices

Photon-enhanced thermionic emission (PETE)[1] appears as a promising technology for electric power generation from renewable resources. Its combination of photovoltaic and thermionic effects leads to devices which can operate at high temperature through thermionic emission still exploiting efficient electrons promotion through a semiconductor band gap when it is chosen as a cathode. However, th...
